Here is a short video from Sunday Morning, 10-02-11. The chuck wagon cooks were up at sunrise preparing breakfast ahead of Cowboy Church at the Arbuckle Event Center outside of Davis, OK.

Arbuckle Chuckwagon Cook Off

The 2nd Annual Chuckwagon CooK Off and Western Swing Festival was held at the Arbuckle Event Center in Davis Oklahoma on the first weekend in October. Live music, chuckwagon food, trick shooting, mutton bustin', wagon rides and saloon girls were on tap. First were the chuckwagons . . .

The chuckwagon cooks had an early Saturday morning start as they prepared for the cook off.

Crossroads Bathed In Wildfire Smoke

A vast smoke plume descended on the Crossroads this afternoon. The smoke was from a monster wildfire near Bastrop, about 100 miles north of Victoria. At times, the smoke blocked the sun.

The smoke-filled air provided an eerie veil over the tennis courts at Victoria West High School.

The Dirty Birds rock Fat Albert's at the 3rd Annual Chad O. Benefit

The Dirty Birds Band kept the riders on their feet and the folks from Fat Albert's served up mouth-watering barbeque. (link to all photos photos)

TMRA wrapped up the 3rd Annual Cpl. Chad Eric Oligschlaeger Foundation for PTSD at Fat Albert's BBQ & Icehouse in Yoakum, TX, Saturday May 21, 2011. The annual ride rally raises funds for troops with PTSD.

iPhone GPS Location Embedded in Photos

Lots of talk on the internet about whether iPhones and other smart phones record the GPS location of photos taken. I don't have other smart phones to test, BUT the iPhone 3GS and 4 DO record the GPS location of the phone when the shutter snaps. Here is an example image I recently took with an iPhone 3GS:

A lot of concern has been expressed about people using the data to track a person's whereabouts, especially when the photos are posted on Facebook. Apparently, Facebook strips the EXIF data (information saved with the photo) so people should not be able to track your photo location. (No guarantees though.) Supposedly, sites like "Flickr" and other popular social/photo sites also strip uploaded photos of background data.

But, if you send someone an image from your iPhone via email, the recepient could likely determine the GPS location of the photo, if they desired to do so.

Morale: Be aware when sharing your images online.

The final night of "ZooClipse" at the Texas Zoo was fraught with fright.

Even for the "big" kids and the unsuspecting.

All-in-all, it was a fun finale, well . . . except for some creatures and not-so-brave visitors.

Unearthly sighting!

Things almost got out of hand last night at the Haunted Zoo when this "thing" appeared briefly and hovered over one of the tour groups. Things DID get out of hand and panic ensued when the group realized the "ghost" was neither a prop nor an actor, as "it" vanished into thin air. PMI chief photographer, WT Sandlin, managed to get a quick photo before the "spirit" disappeared.

This is the only appearance of the poltergeist during this season's Haunted Zoo, so far. . . . Will there be another visit tonight? One can only guess.
